WATERWAYS THAT VAST
The Algoma region is surrounded by two of the largest
freshwater lakes in the world; Lake Superior and Lake
Huron. The landscape is home to many inland lakes
and countless rivers, making for outstanding water
adventures for power-boaters, and sailors.
Lake Huron has over 30,000 islands while secluded
coves, bays and inlets are along Superior’s coastline.
The St. Marys River, connecting the two Great Lakes,
offers a historic and crucial waterway for pleasure craft as
they lock through the Sault Ste. Marie Canal.
