TOURING BY RV
There’s a moment, just north of Sault Ste. Marie, where
the highway crests a hill and Lake Superior erupts into
view — vast, steel-blue, and untamed. The road bends
along its shoreline, forests press close, and suddenly you
realize: Algoma isn’t a destination, it’s an experience.
If you are looking for more nights under Superior's
stars an RV is the answer. Waking up in Lake Superior
Provincial Park, with Superior stretching beyond the
window, was worth every kilometre. Evenings meant
cooking dinner as the sun dipped behind the trees,
nights ended by the fire, listening to loons call. RVing
slows Algoma down. Instead of rushing to the next town,
you linger by the lake or in the forest.
Over the years, I’ve returned to Algoma again and again.
Sometimes in a car with the family, sometimes behind
the wheel of an RV, other times on two wheels — both
motorized and not. I’ve even seen it blanketed in snow
from the seat of a snowmobile. Each journey revealed a
different side of this Northern Ontario gem.
